Skin needling – also known as automated microneedling or collagen induction therapy in Paramus, New Jersey – is a recent innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks.
During this procedure tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. At The Breslow Center we use the SkinPen, the most advanced medical-grade automated microneedling device on the market. The SkinPen is a great solution for all Fitzpatrick skin types.

Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy. To begin our Paramus microneedling team will either apply a hyaluronic serum or the client’s platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to the skin.
After selecting the proper settings for the targeted areas, we then perform the SkinPen treatment using a 12-point sterile cartridge tip.

This is done by mixing a small sample of the patient’s blood with a special reagent. The platelets in the blood contain growth factors that promote cellular regeneration and accelerate the healing process, giving your skin a fresher, more youthful appearance. Before beginning the microneedling treatment, a medical provider draws a vial of the client’s blood and places it in a centrifuge. The spinning separates the platelet-rich plasma, which is then extracted from the vial.
The application of platelets stimulates different types of growth factors in the area that is being treated:
The microneedling treatment itself does not take that long to perform. In most cases it’s completed within an hour. The actual application of the SkinPen averages from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area treated and the skin’s condition.
Microneedling can be used on all skin types to address a variety of concerns. The most common areas for rejuvenation are the face and décolleté. Unless your medical provider determines otherwise, almost all areas of the body can be treated.
Face, Arms, Neck, Legs, Décolleté, Abdomen, Hands, Back

Immediately after the microneedling treatment you will experience a feeling of sunburn, and your skin might take on a pink to bright-red appearance.
Downtime typically ranges from 24 hours to 72 hours, but in most cases clients are up and running the following day.
Your skincare specialists will suggest the right post-treatment skin care products to reduce discomfort and speed up recovery, based on your skin type and personal needs.
You will begin to see changes directly after your Paramus microneedling treatment, and in the six following months. Once the redness has cleared up, you will experience a little dryness and then a beautiful glow. The healthier the skin is before treatment, the quicker you will see results.
The number of treatments required for this procedure depends on the areas that are targeted and varies from one client to another. The more treatments you do, the more results you will see.
Maintaining a healthy skin care regimen also has a significant impact on how your skin responds to the treatment. Your skin care specialist will set you up with the proper pre- and post-treatment care to ensure optimal results.

The costs of microneedling vary, depending on if you undergo the treatment with PRP or by itself.
We have single treatments and packaged treatments in Paramus NJ that we can customize to suit clients’ needs. During your initial skin care consultation your esthetician will formulate a treatment plan that addresses your specific skin care goals.
